Jagannath is a Sanskrit Name translating to the "Lord of the Universe". When the British were in India, they witnessed the Rath Yatra aka the Grand Annual Ceremony held in the State of Odisha where the Deities- Jagannath, Baldev and Subhadra, were brought out from the temple, make Their Lordships ascend Their respective chariots and travel to the Gundicha temple. When the British saw Jagannath for the first time they were frightened and were not able to perceive Him as the Most sweetest Lord, the Lord and Caretaker of the Universe. They would describe Him as massive, colossal, yet frightening to them. Hence, the word "Juggernaut" was made to describe such a feeling and made way to the English dictionary.
In reality, those who commit severe offences, see Jagannath as a destroyer, the End. Those who surrender to Him in selfless love see Him as their Lord, Supreme Father or the Best friend of all or a Beloved son... and much more!
The Day of Snan Yatra (that takes place 15 days before the Rath Yatra), marks the Birthday of our dear Lord Jagannath. I made this illustration for Him, a Birthday present. What can be more better than offering what you Have in love to the one Who's given It to you, in the beginning? :)) <3 <3 <3
