These kind of paintings have inspired me to add emotional depth in my artwork. This is one fo the paintings, which I firstly came across and was mesmerised to see how the scene described in the text was depicted so beautifully. Seeing these paintings make me just look at it and visualise the incidents I have cherished reading. I came across this painting few years ago and happens to still be one of the most inspiring paintings ever. Do check out the youtube video description to know what this painting is all about!
I remember hearing the Raga Bhairava and felt it would suit the mood of the scene shown here. And what can potray the depth of the Raga in this case better than a Sarangi? I have always loved the sound of Sarangi and songs of Devotional Love are also best expressed with Sarangi played in the background. Also hearing that Ragas are connected with colours too, and feeling that this Tune (of the Sarangi and flute) would match with the mood and colours of the painting, I chose Bhairava- that quite presented the emotion of separation.
I was facing difficulties in choosing the right ambience, finalising one after putting 3-4 on the track, whether it was for the musical ambience or the forest ambience. I also remember a simple yet beautiful drone sound played during the last emotional scene in the movie “Lion” and thought to use it for it matched the other tunes of the instruments and went kind of well with the mood of the painting.
